interview with Antonio Colombo All

Taken from an old interview with Antonio Colombo All mtb 2002 (Dec. No. 142):

TMB: Some aspects of road cycling, and we do not refer only to drugs seem bleak and mountain biking, at least in its original spirit, he took his distance.
AC: see that today, some aspects of competitive mountain biking are not very different from the squalor of the road that you understand it.

TMB: note. mountain biking has derailed, mimicked rather than to distance. We would like respected the spirit of mountain biking, enhanced by the famous article published by Heron in 1985. We had a great desire to talk to her about these things, because Cinelli has always maintained that spirit, and now does so with the Bootleg Series.
AC: the bicycle is a container for emotions, design and technology. It 'also escape rebel and a good designer must take into account everything, including paint, if necessary [...]. The nature of the bike can do anything: music, art, nights, evenings, informality, and all this hippie legacy we have concentrated in the project Bootleg. This much is clear already from the catalog, inspired fanzine.

TMB: The Bootleg project is articulating today also includes a real bike, the Hot Rats, dedicated specifically to the city street at night who are so fashionable in this period (including critical mass)
AC: Yes, Bootleg grow. They have no links with competitive spirit, born from a project amphibian. We were inspired by the "messenger", the Americans running bike messengers in big cities and that for clothing and lifestyle are informing the world of art.

TMB: even in the literature, we are reminded of the text by Travis Hugh Culley.
AC: for that matter, in New York I found a great picture book entirely dedicated to them. The problem of these operations is that, when they celebrate a phenomenon, reduce it to fashion, normalized. All good artistic ideas are at risk.
